Sorry for any trouble this caused.

They suspect there will be NO downtime, and there will be brief periods of high latency. What this means is that all services hosted on my machines could potentially go down at any time, and there will be a potential of the services taking longer then usual to load/render. The following services will be affected:

  • All websites (Unserious.org, veritas2.com)
  • Calorie Inquiry Global Updating Service
  • Internet Relay Chat servers and services
  • Database server
  • E-mail (Unserious.org, veritas2.com)

Once i bring the web server backup, v1.03 and lower of Calorie Inquiry will cease to function (the app will crash). This is due to all the new DB Schema updates i did in v1.04, and if you haven’t updated yet, you should!

The following will be affected:

  • Veritas2.com (all sites)
  • Unserious.org (all sites)
  • Webmail (receiving and sending email will still be functional, you just won’t be able to access the webmail frontend

Nov. 4th 2011 at around 10pm, MrSaturn will be going offline for a OS upgrade.  I will be upgrading from Ubuntu LTS 08.04 to 10.10 LTS.  The upgrade SHOULD only take around 30 minutes to an hour depending on how fast the software downloads.  The following services will be affected: 

  1. Database (All websites hosted on Veritas, including Webmail)
  2. Mail Services
  3. Calorie Inquiry’s Global DB Update service (Note: only adding/modifying drinks will be affected by this outage.  You should be able to continue to receive the updated database)
In addition, i will probably take the time to upgrade Apache, PHP, and phpmyadmin on MrSaturn.
Now, the next Server maintenance will affect both servers due to the upcoming time change to make sure both clocks stay in sync.  In addition, i will also upgrade Apache, and PHP on Veritas to ensure the latest updates.  The following services will be affected:
  1. Mail Services
  2. Database services
  3. Websites (ALL Sites hosted on Veritas/MrSaturn)
  4. IRC
  5. Calorie Inquiry’s Global DB Update service (ALL)
